SANA’A – The Political Bureau of Ansarullah has congratulated the Yemeni people on the 55th anniversary of the 1963 South Yemeni Revolution.
The South Yemen Revolution, also known as the Radfan Uprising, or the Aden Emergency in the United Kingdom, was a war of independence against British colonialism that started on 14 October 1963. The Revolution pitted the National Liberation Front (NLF) and its allies against the British colonial occupation forces, and resulted in a total British retreat in 1967 and the establishment of the Democratic People’s Republic of Yemen.
The Political Bureau of Ansarullah praised the freedom fighters, stating “We are proud of great sacrifices made by the Yemeni people against the British occupation.”
Ansarullah’s official statement also reiterated that the anniversary of the Revolution is a reminder of Yemen’s historical military struggles against foreign occupation and invaders, and called on all parties in Yemeni society to enhance their national union in order to confront and expel the occupiers and build a truly independent Republic of Yemen.
