SANA’A – Mohammed Abdulsalam, official Spokesperson of Ansarullah and Head of the National Negotiating Delegation, has confirmed in an official speech on Thursday that the Yemeni nation will support any serious and credible international efforts to put an end to the conflict plaguing Yemen and achieve peace in the region.
Spokesman Abdulsalam spoke in response to recent statements by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis, in which the US politicians called for a “move toward a peace effort”.
Responding directly to the calls by the US regime, Abdulsalam said: “America, as it is known, is a fundamental partner in the aggression, and when it calls for the cessation of war, it is calling upon itself,” thus pointing out the active role of the United States in arming and supporting the Saudi regime.
“If it [the United States of America] is serious, it should demonstrate this with tangible steps: by lifting the political cover for this absurd war, immediately ceasing all logistical support to the coalition, and stopping deals of arms that caused the killing of children and civilians.”
However, the Ansarullah spokesman noted, facts on the ground continue to show a different story from the words of Mattis and Pompeo. It is likely that Abdulsalam implicitly targeted recent decisions by the Trump regime that would allow a massive sale of over 110 billion USD in military equipment to the Saudi kingdom to contine, despite widespread protests against continued arming of the absolute monarchy in Riyadh.
“America’s allies continue to mobilize, which predicts a military escalation in Yemen’s Western Coast and other fronts.”
