A bomb attack by terrorists has killed at least 12 people and wounded several others in Iraq’s holy city of Karbala.
Police said the terrorists blew up a bus laden with explosive at the northern entrance of the city on Friday night.
“Twelve civilians have been killed and five wounded in an explosion on a bus at the main checkpoint for the northern entrance to Karbala”, local health authorities said.
No groups had claimed the deadly blast.
Karbala and other Shia-majority cities in southern Iraq have rarely been targeted since Daesh was purged from the region in 2017.
The remnants of the foreign-backed terror group are currently mostly active in Iraq’s northern parts.
