Chief of UN mission in Hodeidah: Yemen has fully complied with Stockholm agreement

Published

HODEIDAH -The UN mission monitoring the peace deal between warring parties in Yemen’s Hodeidah has confirmed that the National salvation government has fully withdrawn its forces from three key ports in the region, as agreed upon on the Stockholm agreement.

Lieutenant General Michael Lollesgaard, who heads the UN monitoring mission in Hodeidah, has said in a statement that regular UN patrols had not detected any Yemeni military presence in the three Red Sea ports of Hodeidah, Salif and Ras Isa since May 14.

Lollesgaard said the National Salvation Government (known as the Houthis by the invaders and Western mainstream media) has removed all military installations and equipment had from Salif and Ras Isa, with some remaining in Hodeidah, but unmanned.

Lollesgaard called on the Yemeni government to “expeditiously complete the removal of all military manifestations, including trenches, as part of their commitment to the process.”

The National Salvation Government’s unilateral withdrawal from the ports in early May was the most significant advance yet for peace efforts to end the war that has been waged by the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen for over four years.

The withdrawal happened in full correspondence with the peace agreement signed in Sweden in December. However, the Saudi-led invaders have so far not initiated any actions towards peace whatsoever.

Mohammed Al-Houthi responds to dishonest remarks of Pompeo

SANA’A -Mohammed Ali al-Houthi has responded to the call by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who called on Ansrullah to “implement the Sweden agreement.”

“Your coalition is the one refusing to implement the Stockholm accord,” Mohammed al-Houthi said in a tweet on Monday evening, addressing US secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“We consider your call [to us] to implement the agreement of Sweden to be misleading propaganda which confirms your repudiation and tells your mercenaries to keep carrying out their infiltration attempts on Jableyah area in Hodeidah province.”

The National Salvation Government has initiated a unilateral implementation of the plan of the Chairman of the Coordination Committee for the Redeployment of forces, General Michael Lollesgaard. The Yemeni initiative has been hailed by the United Nations and its envoy.

While Yemen has upheld its part of the Sweden peace agreement, the Saudi-led invaders still have done no effort whatsoever, and have kept on bombing and attacking Hodeidah in direct violation of the agreement they signed. This is the reason why Pompeo’s remarks hit extra hard in Yemen, and have caused great anger.

“We would welcome a committee of the UN Security Council to review all official messages exchanged with American mercenaries or with the United Nations under the chairmanship of Michael Lollesgaard, Chairman of the Redeployment committee,” al-Houthi said.
