SANA’A – President of Yemen Saleh Ali al-Sammad has praised the courage of Yemeni women and reiterated the major importance of the work of women in the revolutionary struggle for the freedom of the Republic.
Al-Sammad made the comments during a meeting with female political leaders from all over Yemen on Sunday, including Minister of State Radia Raoh and member of the Supreme Political Council Halima Jahaf.
The meeting discussed amongst other things the situation in the country as a result of the continued aggression, the daily crimes committed against the Yemeni people, and the international community’s silence regarding the continued aggression against Yemen. Furthermore, it stressed the utmost importance of the role of women in the defence and reconstruction of Yemen in the face of the enemy onslaught.
President al-Sammad welcomed the attendance of the female freedom fighters, stating: “This meeting was considered very important in light of these exceptional and sensitive circumstances.” He praised the national role of women leaders in strengthening the internal front.
The President also stressed the need for both women and men to play an active role in Yemen’s political and public life, and to uphold the fronts of honour and heroism for the defence of the country.
“Women should remain an incubator for all, a mother to all Yemenis, and the guarantors of this society, its cohesion and stability,” al-Sammad stated, repeating that the government will do anything necessary to ensure the role of women at all stations of public life, and to protect their rights.
Unlike Saudi Arabia and its allies, women in Yemen take active part in the public and political life of the revolutionary government, and many women play important roles in the military self-defence of the Republic.
