Yemeni Media Union condemns Saudi targeting of journalists
SANA’A – The Yemeni Media Union has on Sunday strongly condemned the targeting of national journalists and correspondents by the Saudi-led coalition and its militias in Yemen, done in an attempt to hide Saudi war crimes in the conflict.
The union called on the local and international organisations working in the field to express “solidarity with Yemeni media and journalists and condemn the terrorist acts carried out by the coalition.”
The Saudi-led coalition and its militias opened fire on and injured a correspondent of September 21 Radio, attached to the Yemeni Defence Ministry. The journalist, named Bassam al-Asadi, was wounded in Hodeidah province while covering events and violations of the ceasefire in the region.
Since March 26, the coalition has killed dozens of journalists, photographers and correspondents in targeting directly, in addition to blocking frequency of Yemeni broadcasting channels
